PINK PAVILION

ENG: PINK PAVILION is BLAAGAARD TEATER's recurring reading festival for Danish and international drama. The festival presents newly written plays directed and performed by both emerging and established artists from the Danish and international performing arts scene. Additionally, there will be a curated side-stage program featuring talks, presentations, and similar events to supplement the performative readings.

PINK PAVILION 2026 will present drama that explores the theme: ‘FREEDOM OF…’

This may cover topics ranging from freedom of speech to the liberty-depriving annexations of totalitarian regimes. What does freedom mean to an individual country, and what is freedom in a broader global context?

The participating international playwrights are selected through an open call, where Blaagaard Teater, in collaboration with cultural institutes from Catalonia, France, and Germany, will choose a handful of texts to be presented on stage as performative readings.

The festival adheres to Blaagaard Teater’s core values of maintaining a strong focus on intersectional diversity, and we aim for our audience to be as diverse as our program and cast. Therefore, we work with dedication to ensure accessibility for both our audience and staff. At this year's festival, this includes presenting our readings in English, in order to include our international partners and to open up the dramatic works to non-Danish-speaking residents and guests.

DK: PINK PAVILION er BLAAGAARD TEATER tilbagevendende readingfestival for dansk og international dramatik. Festivalen præsenterer nyskrevet dramatik instrueret og fremført af nye og erfarne kunstnere fra det danske og internationale scenekunstmiljø. Ydermere vil der være kurateret sidesceneprogram med samtaler, oplæg og lignende som supplement til de performative readings.

Det kan omhandle alt fra ytringsfrihed til totalitære regimers frihedsberøvende annekteringer. Hvad betyder frihed for det enkelte land og hvad er frihed i en større global kontekst?

De deltagende internationale dramatikere findes gennem et open call, hvor BLAAGAARD TEATER, i samarbejde med kulturinstitutter fra Katalonien, Frankrig og Tyskland, udvælger en håndfuld tekster, der skal præsenteres på scenen som performative readings.

Festivalen følger BLAAGAARD TEATERs grundværdier om altid at have et stærkt fokus på intersektionel diversitet, og vi ønsker at vores publikum skal være lige så mangfoldigt som vores program og cast. Derfor arbejder vi dedikeret med tilgængelighed for både vores publikum og ansatte. På dette års festival betyder det blandt andet at vores readings præsenteres på engelsk, for at inkludere vores internationale partnere og samtidig åbne dramatikken op for herboende ikke-dansktalende publikummer og gæster.
