Blaagaard invites you to join ‘A Conversation: Art as Resistance’ on 6 November 2023 at 17:00 with Fadia Loubani and Sumoud Ghazal, playwrights of ‘The Wedding’ from Borj el Barajneh refugee camp in Lebanon; Fanny Arnulf, actress and PhD researcher on theatre as a tool of resistance in the favelas in Brazil and in Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon; and Sophie Hatem, anthropologist and theatre director of the Theatre of the Women of the Camp.
Join us in a thought-sharing conversation as we discuss the place of art in the everyday struggle to exist in refugee camps, and listen to Fadia and Sumoud’s personal journeys as they navigate a life in dispossession and constant uncertainty.
The Theatre of the Women of the Camp is an all-women theatre set out to re-imagine the camp as a space of emptiness, of waiting, of victims, to spaces of knowledge, demands, artistic talent, and powerful storytelling. They are playing ‘The Wedding’ from 4-16 November at Blaagaard theatre.
